MAY 1998

Ab Hoving from the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam
recently visited the Duyfken and was impressed
by the committment to letting ancient shipbuilding
techniques (which he has researched) influence
the design of the ship.

Inside the ship staging has been erected to allow
the shipwrights to build the deck structures

Topside planking is now well advanced

The lower topside planking at 50mm thick
bends more easily than the thicker planking
used below the waterline.
