46 05N 001 15.3W The day began fine and clear with another great sunrise. The Pilot boarded the Da Zhong at 0830 and by 0930 the ship berthed at the Port of La Rochelle. The first crew member I saw informed me that today is Chinese National Day, and almost every other crew I came across during the day told me this same story. They are obviously very proud of the fact. I continued my task of oiling he inside planks in the hold of Duyfken. The day continued with Da Zhong opening her hatches, preparing to load its cargo tomorrow. The evening meal was special and consisted of prawns, duck, chicken, tiny sausages, boiled egg, 1000 year old egg?? and salad and rice. All washed down with Chinese beer -- very nice too! Three cheers for Chinese National Day!
