How did you first get involved with the Duyfken
project?
As a tour guide in Brisbane. A positive comment about the size of
the galley led to four days on board as Ship's Cook: Brisbane -
Mooloolaba, and Redcliffe to Sanctuary Cove. |
Why are you embarking on the Duyfken Voyagie?
Because
it has to be better than 'another day in the office' and, there'll
be lots of stories to tell. |
How do you cope with life aboard a small ship
such as Duyfken?
It's hard
to say as the life is new to me - but I like a simple life and I
generally get along with everyone. Evening solitude on the poop
deck will refresh the spirit. |
What is the most unusual item in your sea chest?
A soft toy
- Madame Cholet (the cook of the Wombles TV series). |
How will you cope with the primitive conditions
aboard?
I'll
be fine as long as I've got a toothbrush (and band aid). |
What do you find is the most difficult aspect
of sailing aboard Duyfken?
Drama at sea
and keeping pots on the stove - or could it be the weevils in the
flour and rice? |
What do you think will be the highlight of the
voyage?
Having enough
to eat, birthday cakes not burning and arriving at each port, in
particular Holland, on my 44th birthday. |
