James rejoined Duyfken in The Netherlands to take up the task of Volunteer Guide Coordinator.

Orchades, Canberra and Duyfken.
How did you first get involved with the Duyfken project?
Volunteered as guide, October 1999.
Why are you embarking on the Duyfken Voyagie?
To fulfil a lifelong yearning.
How do you cope with life aboard a small ship such as Duyfken?
With great difficulty at times but mostly fairly well.
What is the most unusual item in your sea chest?
This will probably arrive later.
How will you cope with the primitive conditions aboard?
That's part of sailing on the Duyfken.
What do you find is the most difficult aspect of sailing aboard Duyfken?
Trying to remember which rope is which and cleaning my clothes.
What do you think will be the highlight of the voyage?
For me the arrival at Jakarta.
